Other very large companies abused consumer trust and have made claims to having this level of sound, only to wind up in court disputes or offer subsequent products that boast 24-bit processing but haplessly renders at 16-bit. HT Omega has released the real deal: CLARO 24-bit/192KHz 8-channel high definition sound.

Overall the HT Omega Claro soundcard is something that can change your mind about onboard sound, if you are like me and have just ‘been happy’ with the onboard sound, you need to give the HT Claro a try and your mind will be forever changed. Of course though a good set of speakers is need to fully enjoy the HT Claro, and they don’t have to be a full 5.1 or 7.1 setup, you can use just two speakers and a subwoofer to create a sound experience that will add a new dimension to your gaming and multimedia  experiences on your PC... DragonSteelMods gives the HT Omega Claro Soundcard a 5 out of 5score and our Recommended Award as well

While onboard audio like that found on the ASUS has improved dramatically over the last year or so, there is no substitute for a good sound card.  The Claro sounds great in games but comparing the Claro against my home theater setup is perhaps the most telling.  My Kenwood unit just doesn't have the clarity to keep up in the 5.1 tests.  I truly can't wait for the next generation to include things like THX and uncompressed audio made possible by the new high definition DVD formats! The ability to tweak every aspect of the sound stage provides the same quality sound you would expect only from finely tuned high end audio components.  During analog testing I did notice a slight drop in the high end using the analog setup while listening to some of my favorite music tracks, but was able to easily tune things back to my liking with the Xear 3D software.  The $139 price of the Claro makes it a bargain compared to several other C-Media CMI8788 based cards on the market.  Sure X-Fi may have the gaming market by the throat but the high end audio market belongs to cards like the Claro.
